Orthosiphon Aristatus



Orthosiphon aristatusOrthosiphon aristatus is from the family of Lamiaceae / Labiatae. The plant is a medicinal herb found mainly throughout South East Asia and tropical Australia. It is known as kumis kucing in Indonesia and misai kucing in Malaysia. In the US it may be commonly known as Cat's Whiskers or Java tea.
O. aristatus is used in landscaping to attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds to its nectar.

Usability is empirical

Leaves wet and dry cat whiskers are used as coping with illness, in Indonesia, dry leaves used (crude) as a drug that expedite expenditure of urine (diuretic) while in India to treat rheumatism. Community use cat whiskers as a traditional medicine in an effort gout cure coughs, colds and constipation. Besides, the leaves of this plant are also useful untu treatment of inflammation of the kidney, kidney stones, diabetes, albuminuria, and disease syphilis., Rheumatism, and lower blood glucose levels. As well as being a diuretic, cat whiskers is also used as an antibacterial.

Climate

     1) These plants can be easily grown on farms, should be selected for the production of loose soil, fertile, many containing humus / organic matter with good water and good air.
     2) Land Andosol and Latosol very good for the cultivation of cat whiskers.
